How it works

Hearzap's rapid hearing test uses pure tone audiometry — the same method used in professional clinics — adapted for your browser. The test measures the softest sound you can hear at key frequencies for both ears.

  1. Select a person

Choose whose hearing you want to test — yourself or a family member.

  2. Connect headphones

Put on wired or Bluetooth headphones and find a quiet place. The test requires microphone access to check your environment.

  3. Listen & respond

You'll hear tones at 4 frequencies (500 Hz to 4000 Hz) in each ear. Press the button the moment you hear a tone.

  4. Get your results

Receive an instant hearing score for each ear along with a personalised recommendation based on your results.

What your hearing score means

Mild Concern

Score 75 · 41–55 dB

Moderate Concern

Frequently asked questions

Is this hearing test accurate?
Hearzap's rapid hearing test provides a reliable screening of your hearing ability across key frequencies. While it is not a clinical audiometry test, it can detect early signs of hearing loss and guide you on whether a professional evaluation is needed.
How long does the online hearing test take?
The rapid hearing test takes approximately 3 minutes. You will test both ears across 4 frequencies — 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, and 4000 Hz.
What do I need to take the test?
You need a pair of wired or Bluetooth headphones, a quiet environment, and microphone permission granted in your browser. The test plays tones at different intensities and measures the softest level you can hear.
What does my hearing score mean?
Your score reflects the average decibel threshold your ears respond to. A score of 100 indicates normal hearing (≤40 dB threshold). Lower scores suggest mild (75), moderate (50), or severe (25) hearing concerns that may benefit from professional assessment.
Is this test free?
Yes, Hearzap's online hearing test is completely free. No account is required to take the test, though creating an account lets you save and track your results over time.
